The Community Shop opened on April 4th 2010 thanks to the efforts and contributions from local people. It sells a range of goods including a good selection of local produce. The shop is currently staffed by a number of volunteers but it is the intention to employ two part-time managers.

The village shop in Straiton was re-opened in January 2009 as a community co-operative following its closure in December 2008.
